Play a role in a live, feature-length cinematic VR experience!

Play Secrets of Gara

A live, multiplayer VR adventure with real actors

You've seen the footage. Now we'd love for you to experience it yourself.

The MetaMovie Presents: Secrets of Gara is an experimental, narrative-driven VR game that combines cinematic storytelling, improvisational role-play, cooperative combat, and live actors.

Four players take on the roles of the Heroes, making decisions that shape the story. Up to ten additional players become BeeBots, tiny flying robots who assist the Heroes, heal them, and enhance their weapons in combat.

The supporting characters and enemies are performed by live actors who respond to what players actually say and do. There's no dialogue menu and no predetermined list of acceptable responses. You can talk to the characters, improvise, make unexpected decisions, and see how the story responds.

Experience a live playtest

Because Secrets of Gara features live actors and coordinated multiplayer gameplay, we offer scheduled, hosted playtest sessions rather than an unattended download.

We'd be delighted to arrange a private demonstration for the GDC Experimental Games Showcase selection team.

During your session, you'll be able to:

  • Meet and interact with characters performed by live actors.
  • Explore the world and make your own decisions.
  • Experience our approach to improvisational storytelling and player agency.
  • Try cooperative gameplay as a Hero or BeeBot, depending on the session.
  • The session can be as long or as short as you prefer: we are flexible.

What you'll need

Secrets of Gara runs in Resonite, a free multiplayer VR platform available on Steam.

  • Download and Install Resonite from the Steam Store (it’s free)
  • Create an account
  • Hardware: A compatible PC VR headset and VR-ready computer

We'll provide instructions for joining, along with any necessary technical assistance, before your session.

Can't attend a live session?

We understand that scheduling a multiplayer performance isn't always convenient. If a live playtest isn't possible, please contact us. We'd be happy to discuss alternative ways to evaluate the experience.
